I'm surprised a 106 is worth that much, to be honest - plenty of Golf2 track prepped motors (normally 16V) that come up for more like £1000-1500.

It's a rallye though so pretty sort after.

Nick

a rallye is just a gti with slightly less interior and 8 less valves. worth about 2.5k tops with cage.

I dunno, I just heard they were sort after over the GTI's etc. I'm not into pugs, just what I heard on the interwebz about them.

Gearbox wise I believe you need to change a MKII to to hydro clutch from cable and the gear linkage from rod to cable but you just use off the shelf bits, I believe it's not that hard.

You can stay cable-actuated clutch - plenty in the Golf2 section about it

I think you'll find depending upon the *actual* Rallye we're talking about there are myriad detail differences, which can make all the difference, especially to potential purchasers.

special model though so they are worth a bit. there arent hundereds of them out there like mk2 golfs! they are wicked little cars

they are a special model but in this case the OP has swapped the 1.6 8v for a 1.6 16v from a GTI anyway so it's moot as to what model the car was to start with. may as well have bought a gti and stripped it in the first place.

DH i'm not saying this car isn't minted in any way - i'm saying it wouldn't make a difference what it was worth if it started life out as a 1.1 zest, 8v rallye or 16v gti due to how much it's changed from its original spec.

what i will say is 205 rallyes, 106 rallyes were both ghey standard cos you could strip out a gti and be the faster/cheaper for it.

Now it's interesting you should mention that, because the original 205 Rallye was a very different beast to the stock 205s, as it was built for rally homologation purposes, so had a screaming 1.4 carb motor and all sorts of trickness in the shell.

Unfortunately my brain lost interest in retaining information about the 106 Rallye, which suggests it was just a basic 106 with some stickers 'n' stuff.  I suspect the OP will be along shortly to correct me.

my mate has a white 205 rallye, apparently one of 500 made. 250 in white and 250 in yellow. the shells are wider at least at the front as he bought a normal 205 strut brace for it and it wasnt wide enough

here is some info about the s2 rallye http://www.106rallyeforum.com/forum2008/index.php?pageid=s2intro

in summary: a gti with slightly less interior and a worse engine.

i would pay good money for your pug mate. and probably a beter track tool than most golfs out there. even i get the blinkers off sometimes.
rarer than any mk2 apart from a rallye or 2dr syncro, a very nice engine and management, and the same track spec any golf would get. clean too.
