Frog, I can't comment on Ashford Motorsport, but the good thing about REVO is they will personally provide backup, technical support, and even offer free updates - so weather individual dealers are crap or not, shouldn't really be an issue.
But I would earnestly wait until you have at least 5k miles on it, ideally wait until 10k miles - because most VAG engines arn't truely run in until around the 10k mark.
I would also strongly recommend a Revo Select Plus switch - this allows the user to create up to 3 customised user 'maps' (they arn't actually true maps, they just alter the thresholds of the existing map on the ECU). It also allows you to set it back to 'stock' mode (not the actual map as originally installed by Wolfsburgs finest, but simply Revos own interpretation which should perform in a virtually identical manner to the OEM map), and finally allows an 'anti-theft' mode (completely disables the throttle pedal - so the engine can be started, but just won't rev above tickover).
This SPS is usually an extra £150 - but if you can wait for one of the VAG shows, such as GTI International, not only do Revo offer a very worthwhile discount on the remap, but they also throw in the SPS for a massively discounted price. I don't know if Revo are going to Audi Driver International at Castle Coombe on 10th October - but fire them an e-mail and see what they say.
