I have got a Alpine TypeR 10inch sub and an Alpine MRV T505 Amp.

I would say 4awg to be safe. You might get away with 8awg but I'd go 4awg.

try knukonceptz, caraudiodirect, autoleads, even ebay. Theres loads of 4awg kits out there.

The thinner the cable the less current it can handle your 300w amp will draw probably 40a (check what fuses are on it), I'd use 8awg for under 30a.

The distance will affect it's ability to handle current. The shorter the more it can take. Over the length of a car I'd say it won't be enough.

That makes a lot of sense! So would the Halfords 4awg Vibe wiring kit do the job?

Or could you recommend a supplier around the same price if the quality is better?

Yeah. TBH 4awg is 4awg. That has everything you'll need.

Don't think you'll find a kit cheaper than that either!

It's a piece of piss running cables through the mk3 as well, but if you get stuck give us a shout.

Cheers Karl, I am off to halford this morning.

Just one question where is the best place to run the powercable from the engine bay to the inside of the car?

along the passenger side. Theres a gromit behind the glovebox, then pull up the plastic door trim thing. There is room for 3 runs of 0awg along there so you can run rca, power & remote down there no troubles.

If you have a look at my build thread I think I've got a photo of the gromit.

You won't get interference as long as the cables are good quality (no breaks or knicks) & are terminated correctly.

Those horrible horrible cheap nasty ass rcas you get might give you interference but they are the worst quality out.
