VW Price Increase - How much extra for your builds ?
« on: 02 September 2009, 12:43 »
Over £600 extra for the GTI and almost 10% for the extra's in some cases.

My build would have cost me over £1000 more.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Damm!

I just speced one up on the site the other day. Price has gone up 650 with the extras i put on!

I dont think VW's pricing is right. For not a lot more you can get an Audi.

Just the other day i was looking at a Merc C250 CDi with the AMG kit for £30k. Comes with a lot more toys as standard over the GTi. I know they aren't the same car, but performance there ins't a great deal in it. But MPG the Merc is obviously much better.

Starting to have 2nd thoughts about sticking with vdub!

Gone GTi | 3dr | Manual | Carbon Grey | Xenons | Monza 18's | RCD 510 |Rear Camera | Winter Pack.

Try and haggle it off with your dealer, or if they wont budge, maybe get them to meet you halfway

Yeah I found that too with the dealers I went to, most I got off was £1000, I think the GTI is selling quite well so they probably dont need to budge much.

£805!

Unfortunately what VW is doing is right - for them. The demand for the new Golf is huge (as the 1.4 TSI buyers know). They are just reaping the benefits of it.
The sterling is nowhere near 1.5 euro it was not that long ago and that hurts VW. I bet prices in euro stay the same...
As for the dealers - I found that myself - take a lot of quotes from discount websites (some good were mentioned here) and that impresses the dealer because they know you know what you want.
I went to one dealer - no discount, nothing.
Went to another one a week later, took tons of paper with me: £2600 off for the spec I wanted
One thing to remember is that they treat everyone who comes in as a total novice who just want that car in that colour and to pay that much each month (that's what my dealer told me afterwards). You have to prove to them it's not the case

Golf GTI VI DSG - died on the road, resurrected, came back as zombi, sold
R - rising blue, 5-door, DSG, ACC, something something...

Not at all.
£28128, down from £30750. One reason I can think of why they gave me such a good deal was that they were really interested in my p/x hoping to recoup the discount. It worked for me as well as the price was more or less what I would get selling privately. That's why they actually bought my car a month ago and sell it now £2000 dearer :)

Just wait till the 2.5% VAT on 1st Jan goes on top too.

Thing is, VW will still sell the GTI's by the truck load.
