oh yeah, and how many layers of this FG matting should i use? does it have any acoustic properties or is it just the MDF baffle at the front that does all that work?.
i know it shouldnt have any air leaks which i am confident about. ive done loads of this FG stuff before, just not in audio.

If its just glassfibre other than the front panel I would use 3 layers.
Plus think about lining it with dynamat.

No such thing as a free meal!

Where you getting your gear from jamie? I used a couple of those Halfords large repair kits.

cfsnet.co.uk should see you right.

You can pick which thickness of matting you want. Ideally I would say 600g.

Sound deaden the wheel well, but I wouldn't worry about sound deadening the enclosure. Better off putting an extra layer of fiberglass on it. You don't want any flex at all in the box so if it looks a bit flimsy do another layer.

i used a local motor factors which has proven to be quite wallet damaging. they sell the same kits as halfords. i used two of those kits and bought and extra square of matting metre instead of buying another kit. the box now seems quite rigid, i have also lined it with paper mache (with PVA not wallpaper paste).
all i have to do now is fit the baffle, i got some chip board lying about which i could use or should i spend that extra cash and use MDF?.
also wheres the best place to get box carpet?.. want it to match the boot the best i can..

MDF is a bit denser than chipboard. Shame you aint closer as have a few pieces of MDF lying around!

I used PVA/papier mache to get the shape of mine. Ended up ripping all of it off in the end!

How are you fixing the enclosure to the car? I used the 3 self tapping holes.
