no not new bolts but I used new sealing washers. On closer inspection it might not be as bad as I thought, there was an initial bit of smoke but it seems to have died down now. So i'm thinking it might have been my oily hands handling the turbo/manifold and it's soaked into the cast iron which is now burning off under heat.
On the plus side the boost feels a lot better even on the standard map!
