i don't like them, my missus has an a4 (not an rs4 i know) and its a lovely motor but i'm not a big saloon car type of guy - they are for fat balding old men - so if i was offered the choice i would still go for the gti!

I was lucky enough to do an Audi driving day at Silverstone and got the thrash an RS4 around the track (6 MPG at the end of the day :D), its biblically quick for a salon car. I agree though, I much prefer the smaller hatch back shape of a car (hence having the GTI ). Dare I say it, but I would rather have an E92 M3 over the RS4  (purely looks, a shallow fatherless son).

Id also still have either of them over the GTI, but then who needs money anyway

Two comments - build quality, and wet roads.  The M3 is mullerd on both!  :smug:

But yes, the RS4 and GTI are two very different cars.  But both have very valid 'plus points' over each other.  The boot on the RS4 is massive - and I can fill it up and disappear for a month long motoring hol with everything I need, whereas the GTI boot is much smaller.  But in terms of 'on the limit' handling, the GTI is a much easier car - whereas the RS4 is much, much harder.

Oh, and how many GTIs will let you have power on oversteer?

And don't forget the noise!  :smug:

The ESP in the RS4 is amazing though. We did a scenario to test the ESP where they got us to floor it to 70/80 in 2nd gear and then do a quick swerve around some cones and then come back on line, EVERYONE sent the back end flying when they correct the wheel to get back on line, turned the ESP on and I was amazed how "easy" it was compared to having it turned off.

And don't forget the noise!  :smug:

The "S" button needs to be pressed ALL the time :D :D

I know this is going off topic but I think we have had enough talk of waxing our knobs ;)

i have actually, my brother is stinking rich (the complete opposite to me) and has had various cars over the years - not denying the rs4 is a monster, lovely car.  but not for me!  as previously stated, i prefer a hatch, i'm not into old man's saloon cars.  its the same as i'm not into x5's or touregs or anything like that - just not my style!  plus let's face it, as per top gear, audi drivers are c0cks!  he he JOKE!
