Just going back to the M3/RS4 issue.. A good friend of mine owned an rs4 from new and it had to go back to the dealers 12x in 8months of ownership. He decided enough was enough and made the jump to the M3.

Hmmmmmm - that just sniffs of utter incompetance by the stealer!   I've had some shocking examples on my own RS4 - but these have ALL been stealer induced.

In his opinion the RS4 was more usable as daily but very poor build quality and little niggling issues made it a pain to own.

I'm sorry, but he must be the only person in the world if he honestly thinks that Audis have 'poor build quality'.!

The M3 on the other hand he says has been untouchable for quality and hasnt had a single thing go wrong in 2yrs ownership. Also doesnt hide the fact that in the dry the M3 would murder the RS4.

Nope.  In the dry, the Audi S4 leaves the M3 in its wake - and it wouldn't stand a chance against the RS4.  Or his he just referring to a straight line 1/4 mile blast - which seems to be certain peeps 'benchmarks'!  :undecided:

So just to make sure it does so in the wet too... hes modded his to around 500bhp  . How that helps him off the line is a mystery, but in gear it goes like sh1t off a shovel.

Then he must be a better driver than Tiff Needel, if he honestly thinks he can handle 500bhp in the wet!  Does he always try pi$$ing higher up the wall than you in the pub bogs too?

I was waiting for that one TT

tbh it mostly his opinion.. but I think your right about the dealer problems. thats where most of his troubled seem to lay. Any car can have defaults new, but its down to the dealership to get them sorted; quickly, efficiently, and most importantly correctly. Im quite sure in his case they didnt get any of them right.

Same with the "murder" quote... im quite sure he never tested them against each other (as that wouldnt be possible) but did say in his opinion if its dry the m3 would no doubt beat the RS4. I wouldnt have a clue but would love to watch and find out

although this may sway the argument in his favour...  :lipsrsealed:

My Audi and VW stealer are both part of the same firm, and they also include Skoda, Mercedes, Smart - in my city, and the next, and the next after that.  And their bodyshop is truely horrendous!

Fair play.. but unless they change their dealers I dont think he will be interested. tbf its such a close call no one can say that one is clearly better than the other. Guess it just boils down to presonal preference in the end.

How appropriate, an M3 vs RS4 debate in a "knob" thread ;-)
