let's face it, if we were that worried about cost, we'd be buying MkV GTIs!

I agree with you but dont forget sometimes we need to convince the better half about why we are paying a thousand quid to get something that does 'slightly' (word actually used by better half) better than the standard headlights. And ah other than it being looking good... I had ah nothing to really justify the cost. heh heh heh...

hehe - luckily my better half doesn't ask too much about what is optional, what's not, and what the cost is.  she was mainly concerned about the colour :)

(hopefully) she doesn't read forums either!

For what it's worth Snoopy, I'd say get the Xenons.

They give a brighter whiter light, look cooler, and in my opinion they just finish the front of the car off and give it some more 'presence'

ha ha ha my better half not only reads the brochure but also is an mechanical engineer... makes me wonder why I am in this forum and not her... ha ha ha... she keeps saying the xenon is fine and dandy but the thousand quid can be used to get other useful things like <cough> <cough> clothes <cough> jewellery <cough>

She drives a Mercedes SLK manual and told me to forget DSG as well... I was contemplating about it but decided to get the manual instead since she wanted me to exercise... haw haw haw... and of course save some more funds... ha ha ha yup coming from someone who has a Mercedes!!!

its our way of communicating i guess.  better to be on a forum than down in a pub drinking!  or racking up huge telephone bills!!

Doesnt sound worth it to me, for headlights. Honestly, they're just lights, all cars come with headlights as standard and they have to pass certain tests. VW are just profiteering with these Xenon lights. Like they do on a lot of things actually.

Think about it this way - is your car going to depreciate any more without them? I'd say no. In fact probably the opposite.

But, if you've got money to burn...
