I really like the Khartoums, looked into getting a set myself once or twice.
I also like the Charleston Shadows you posted up earlier Martin. Almost worth getting a GTD next just for the wheels

ksing44, why not just get some 10mm spacers for the front axle and 12mm for the rear and keep your standard wheels. They look a bit like mini Interlagos anyway and will fill the arches much better. For around 100 bucks an axle you may find they alone will do the trick of filling the arches without resorting to expensive 18'' alloys.

The Topaz alloys are much nicer than the Khartoums IMO.

Monza Shadows still rule the roost for me. No doubt. :smug:

.... and very good tyres change the car significantly.

I was thinking about these Monte Carlo rims from the 2009 Passat.

Close-up

Used set - maybe available close to me

They are similar to the Topas, but I like them even more with the chunkier spokes and less open space. They are 17 x 7.5 ET47, so also a little more flush than the 18 x 7.5 ET51 Topas. In addition, they also may be available used at a very good price and I will be able to use my current tires and TPMS.

I did think about spacers for the Porto wheels, but I don't think that really is the most desirable solution. It would allow different set-ups front and rear, but I just don't like the idea of using spacers.

Yes I think those would really good on your car and I are worth a shot at a good price. Looking at your pictures you also need to tint those rear windows as on the GTI's. Go for it and send post some pictures!

I'm hoping I can find wheels available close to home, so I can just drive to buy them and see them in person. For now, I'm trying to avoid having them shipped without actually seeing the wheels.

I do like some amount of tint, but it is illegal where I live to tint the driver's window or the front passenger window. With just the rear windows tinted, I think it looks like a minivan.

Look, inexpensive Interlagos reps!!! An entire set for the price of one wheel. They even fixed the offset. I don't think I want reps, but it is interesting.

I agree tinting the fronts is illegal here as well but you've got to tint those rear windows as it makes you car look like a greenhouse

Here are some photos of the famous snowflakes that are 18" x 8.5" ET45. Sans tires and photographed straight down from above, these are the best photos I have ever seen to show the concept. Clearly, they are not flush!

Just got them mounted. The car is dirty and I'm clearly not a great photographer, but I wanted to show the new wheels ASAP. I love them!!! 5 nice simple sturdy spokes, 17" x 7.5" ET47, almost flush in front with just a little tuck in the back. I think they are perfect!!!

new wheels from the side

new wheels from the front

I had to show you this reflection, even in my dirty car (rear wheel)

Whet the heck, front wheel too
