is ma new golf gti 8v good value for money?

I got this golf gto the other day for 700 quid with 11 months mot and 2 month tax. had a  problem with oil leaking into the thottle body at first but this is all solved now. just need front pads and a silencer. Its been lowered 40mm backbox and thats it. wot else can i do 2 make it a bit faster considering im on a budget? is this about the going price for a n 8v gti? Does anyone know the colour code of it? aslo think i mite need front bushes or sumthing car feels really light and quite wobbley wen goin in to a corner. a lot of steering angle and correction is needed and just doesnt feel right, wot cud this be?

Sorry dude this thread needs to be locked before the MK3 8v is sh@te 16v is the best golf ever and throw a VR lump in debate ensues.
Oh and before Diamond comes in with the wrong shell quip. :wink:

Nothing wrong with a 8v, much better than a 16v but not as good as a Vr6  :grin:

Handling issues will be down to the standard susp.

16v = small thingy
VR6 = always playing with thingy
MK2 = Not seen thingy for years

obv its not as good as the vr or 16v, its not meant to be and besides where wud u get a 16v or vr for this money?? Anyone?? im mainly using it as a runabout till i get ma starlet bk on the road, recently blew it up, and needed sumthing realiable. forgot to say has just done 145k and still goes strong for wot it is. anyone know the paint code?? i like the vr6's shame most of them that drive them are tossers lol

haha, this just goes with the MK3 section.
Nowt wrong with the 8v..........
Handling is not that crisp with Mk3 but if it is realy cack then have a look at your suspension in general it may need some new rubbers etc.
Have a look on BB's site this will give you colour details etc.

I have an 8v too...but lets not go there...:P

I got offered a mint condition 3 door 16 Valver but at the time i couldn't afford to get it :(
