Rough Idle
« on: 02 August 2009, 09:12 »
Hi guys,

Got my engine set at TDC, first attempt consisted of it running rather rich and then realised the dizzy had moved 2 teeth out. I have taken her for a quick spin round the block and once moving she is ok, however she will cut out when you come to a stop. The engine sometimes catches its self and stops if from stalling but not all the time, plus it sounds a bit like an air cooled dub at idle.

Having looked at the oil filler cap there is a bit of mayo in there, would a blocked crank breather cause it to idle so rough? I dont want to start ording parts left and right when theres no need to.

Cheers

Dave

cheers chap, turns out I didnt plug the plug in on injector 1 (doh). Runs a lot better now, however it seems to be smoking quite a bit on the over run. Plus there seems to be smoke coming from the manifold area.

If you've just changed the head expect smoke from manifold area for about 10 -15 minutes. Quite normal apparently.
