8v Digi Rear Engine Mounting Replacement
« on: 30 July 2009, 19:43 »
Hi, replaced the front engine mount last week, much better now but there's still quite a bit of movement in the engine when pulling away, it seems like the rear mount (not gearbox) is shot as well. I've had a good search but can't find a guide for changing it. Can it be done with the engine in place? I did the rear mount on a late 16v a few years back (it was a pig) but it seems the mount on the late 8v are different to 16v? Thanks.

It is a bit tight but not too hard to do.

Get the car on ramps, if you can - will make life a lot easier.

Release the top of both rear mounts and jack up the drivetrain a bit - it'll probably trap on the exhaust or driveshafts first.

Undo the bolt that goes through the mount you're replacing and slide it out.  Slide in a new one, bolt it up, lower the engine back onto the mounts and replace the bolts/nuts on the top of the engine mounts.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
