Mate that looks bloomin awesome. Did you do that all yourself? Any idea how long it took? Does the black show dirt quite easily?

Well I did them while watching the telly in the evenings, so took me about 2 months  and I hand sewed them because I haven't got a machine. It would have been alot quicker with a machine no doubt.

I picked the old thread out the seats and reused the original black piping, then used the seperate sections of the seats as a template for the new cloth.

The dirt doesn't show too bad, I left them sat there for quite a while so they gathered a bit of dust and had kids chocolate fingers on them, so I vacuum cleaned them and rubbed the chocolate off with a damp cloth, so back to new again, but they're up in the attic now, until I do the other bits, as I would want them to wear in a uniform fasion (exposure to light etc).

That is VERY impressive!! Was only able to see the pics now that I'm back from work. Think I might have a go a doing something like that myself....will see if i can retrim a set of corrado seats to look like the originals.

Understand how you would join all the parts etc but how did you attach all the piping again?

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions....going to have a look into it all. Anyone have some pics of a corrado or scirocco interior in their car?

I'm 6'3, which means that the top of my head keeps brushing the roof lining (thats with the seat as far down as it'll go)...is a bit annoying. Would be nicer if i was even just an inch lower.

(I guess i could always tilt my back rest further back but i dont find the lying back driving position very comfortable :))

Plus like the suggestion by veedubgti16v for getting the seat a little further back (cheers for that ), does always feel like one click further back would be better :)

Corrado seats go ridiculously low, and are really really comfy!

Other option is... open the sunroof?

That was a bit awkward to work out to begin with, because you have to sew the cloth inside out and have the piping run against its original bend, as it wants to stay the shape that it has taken over the years it has been on the seats.  But once it is turned the right way round once the part is done, it then makes sense.

A good tip to making sure you dont gather more material on one side (if your hand sewing) is to make felt pen marks every 100mm on each piece of the material, and make sure they align as you go along. Otherwise it'll only show up when you put the cloth over the foam, and won't look right.  No need to do it if using a machine though, because the foot will move both parts at the same time.

I just sewed through the original holes of the piping, and added a few more aswell.  I tied bits of red cotton on the piping on bends and where the piping disapears into the seat on the lower bolsters, and made a felt pen mark on the inside of the cloth cloth where the red cotton was tied , so it would help me keep an eye on the piping and cloth being at the right place.

I'm 6'1 and have no problems with even my hair brushing the lining. Are you sure you have the correct seat in the drivers side and not the non adjustable passenger seat in the wrong place? Chuff is taller than me and alot bigger too, and I don't think he has a problem, although he does look a little bit like Noddy!

Bomp, good job :afro:

Conker/Dave is also pretty tall and don't recall him mentioning anything. Perhaps your seat's height adjust is naffed and doesn't go all the way down?
