ICE for MK2 Golf
« on: 29 August 2004, 20:00 »
Need advice - anyone got good links for what works well in a MK2 Golf?

I already have a head unit - looking to put in a base box/sub (or two) and really just need components to fill out the stage?

Need advice on speaker setup, what type of amp I need and, of course, best routes for wiring etc.

Never done it before so need as much pointers as possible

I have power cables down passenger side as easy access to battery down that side.. Have others down centre console... Was pretty easy to do just time consuming. Your best taking the seats out and taking time getting right first time as its a b!tch when it goes wrong, also test before putting the seats back in (as i found out the hard way)

Thanks -= I'll bear that in mind.

Are the front speakers tweeters?

I noticed there is a 1/2 " circle facing towards me on each grill - is that a tweeter or an alarm sensor?

alarm sensor

any small speakers are the tweaters. they provide the vocals. tweaters can be mounted on/in the dash and midrange speakers in the doors or footwells.

the power cable you need with be in proportion to the amp you use. best speak to a shop on which would be best suited. if you money stetches look at JL/genesis/focal/dts/audison kit. Sony's Xplod range is best avoided if you ask anyone in the 'know'

and remember. having more watts doesn't always mean it'll be louder.
