this reminds me of a speaker problem!
there are 2 faults here either

those are nackered speakers and are shorting or the wires running to them are! or both!

as your cranking the power up the wires connections are being crossed which makes the stereos protection kick in result is cut out sound! test them with a multimeter! put it on ohms and touch to + and -
you shoul get about 4ohms if its too high or too low its nackered!

or your running 2 speakers off the same 2 wires! say you want 4 6x9's
there is only 1 right way to do this this is called running in series.
if your running 2 speakers off 1 positive and 1 negative wire and youve connected the positive wire to both postive speaker terminals..... same applies to the negative then you are running them in parallel this produces and lower ohm so say you have two 4 ohm 6x9's it would make 2 ohms and if your headunit is 4 ohms which they all are then this can damage the headunit!
if your running speakers like this then this is why the shoulds cutting out!

to wire them up in series
you run the negative wire to 1 speaker and the positive to the other speaker then you join both speakers together by conecting there positive and negaive terminals! this dubbles the ohms so if your stereos 4 ohms which they are your speakers are 4 ohms!
if you connect them like ive said you then transmit 8 ohms back to the stereo! which doesnt damage it!

i hope this sorts things!

got the same problem with my Sony headunit right now.

try uprating the powercable to the headunit and check to see if the - and + wires are not touching and that they are in the right order
