help:) fitting hottuing coilovers

do you need spring clamps on the standard suspension when changing to coilovers?

if you dont have new bearings or you need any bolts off the old ones, then you will need to compress the springs to get ahold of these bits. a few g clamps should do the trick. worked for me :afro: not the safest/best idea but most people have them and easier to get ahold of than a spring compressor.

You should not need them to be honest unless your reusing the old top mounts which is false economy, nothing else is needed from the old susp.

On mine that would not work, I had to cable tie them to the legs.

Spring compressors are between £10 and £20 from  an auto factors, better than a coil spring in the face.
MK4 GTI T AGU, REVO Remap, BMC carbon box, Miltek cat back, Forge diverter valve, THS FR3 engine/Gbox mounts, Some random alloys, lowered on coilovers.
192bhp 212lbft torque.

I made my own, 2 pieces of threaded bar (from work) and 4 aluminium blocks, shaped into clamps for the springs to slot in and 4 nuts. saved me some coin, and works great, loadsa ppl borrow them to change there shocks....

but if your not that good at making things, then spend your coin and buy some  :wink:

i use a thick ratchet strap to hold the spring in place  :tongue: :embarassed: hasnt failed me so far  :embarassed: :laugh:

No my hottuning coilovers had 2 small rings welded to the legs and was different to standard so I cable tied the brake hoses to those, was fine and still is.
