8v Rad sufficient for 16v engine?

Hi
Found my long lost coolant leak yesterday, it was coming from the overflow hose so I cut the split section off and whilst tightening it back on the thin overflow connection on the rad snapped off.  :angry:
The hunts now on for a 16v rad and i'm struggling to find one, Euro car parts are out of stock and GSF don't list them for a valver despite the guy on the phone saying he had one. So my question is will an 8v rad physically fit and will it cool my engine sufficiently? also will my rad fan and cowling bolt straight onto an 8v rad?
Might be worth noting I don't track the car at all.

yep it will be fine cooling wise

not sure about the cowling, you might have to make brackets for one side of it

i used to have a 8v gti rad  and thrap it on the track with no issues

Call Vee W Services in Bristol, if you're only *just* into Wales - £10 says they'll be able to get you the 16V unit.

Danny, your car used to get *quite* hot IIRC  :tongue:

16v fan cowel wont fit an 8v rad as the 16v rad is smaller, as said you can make some brackets up to make it fit though

8v rad should be fine for cooling though, in the mk2 race series you can swop from a 16v rad to an 8v rad so make of it what you will

Thanks for that, but as long as ill have no issues running an 8v rad ill go with that as I need it asap.
Just spied the below on ebay, advertised as a 16v rad and fan but going on what ive found out it seems to be the wider 8v rad with the 16v fan setup.
Are the brackets on the right the kind of thing ill need to be making?

yeah basically

that looks like a diesel rad with a 8v fan to me, its mahoosive!
