ok need the tips and tricks guys best products techniques and procedures for cleaning my engine bay want it looking mint again as at the moment it looks a bit rusty!

CD2 engine cleaner and detailing spray is good, they sell it in halfrords.

i used Autoglym Engine & Machine cleaner and some detailing brushes

Spray liberally, taking care not to spray electrical stuff (some people cover it up), and then use the brushes to scrub the cleaner in

Then i used a pressure washer and rinsed off, making sure i didn't keep the hose directed at any one area for more than 1/2 second or so

i then allowed it to dry naturally and used some Poorboys Natural Look on the plastics

i use a TFR /APC mix and a pressure washer... i top it off with a water based silicone spray so you can just spray it on and leave it to dry

you can use a AG engine machine cleaner or similar for the grubbier bits if you want... but unless you are showing the engine you could end up doing a lot of hard work when you don't really need to



wash the inside of you bonnet too... spray on the solution at the same time as you are doing the engine bay, then pressure wash before you rinse the engine bay down, if you have soundproofing material try not to let this get waterlogged as it could sag

soundproofing will sag for def whilst water logged but unless in really bad condition in the first place it should be ok,dont hold the lance too close to it and wires etc(as stated above)
get your engine nice and hot before you do this,makes it alot easier for the solution to break the crap down on the engine,make sure you make enough solution to keep re-applying to the bay to stop it drying out,leave for 5mins or so and wash off,
close bonnet and get engine hot again to dry the bay out, now hot and dry you can apply your chosen dressing,i use highstyle from autosmart.

i've found finish is an excellent product for this... spray on and leave it... job done!

That CD2 stuff has a detailing spray and a cleaning spray, the detailer you just spray on and leave, wil try and find some pics of my scoobie when i used it, came up really well, did it for a show and had people asking me all day how i got it that clean.
Also used a pressure washer to remove the cleaner, worked a treat.

cd2 iirc doesn't contain a degreaser, just some light cleanser

whatever product you end up using will probably contain a lot of silicone anyway
