Yeah, I think you're probably right Gambit. Never heard of a hub arm getting bent, just hate to think it might be subframe damage. However I do remember the picture of the wheel.........wouldn't suprise me if the subframe is damaged :'(

Could be worse, at least you can replace the subframe. Imagine if it were a mk1 :o

We had a simular thing happen to a MK3
We changed everything like you did but it ended up being the hub, I would go to your local scrap yard and just buy a complete hub and change it over.

The only thing that i havnt replaced yet on that side of the car is the hub housing its just that i didnt think it would bend but if urs did then theres still hope 4 me.

I have put one of my old wheels on to show how bad the camber is do u think it could still be the hub housing i hope so.
Here is a pic to show u

Also off the subject ive just picked this polo up 4 my sister

I think its ideal shes just passed her test and its a polo country with 62k miles and one owner from new cant be bad for ?550 i think its a bargain and its a good way to lead her in the right direction the VW Direction (shes even talking about her next car the caddy and guess what she does a bit of hairdressing lol ;D

I would yes change the hub etc....

Nice Polo I see original from the Island   ;) But I doubt anyone but you will know what I am on about!

When it happened to the MK3 it was a P reg and only 2 years old at the time and it cost loads to sort out, at least you can get sencond hand parts.

The other thing but it sounds really silly is the ball joint in properly so many people don't get them in right and have problems.

I was born on the island, and have lots of family still there so yes I come over quite a lot.
We bought a old mk1 scirocco over there with a DL plate but it was to far gone rust wise to sort out. I think the ferry cost puts lots of people off buying cars from the island, but most of them have low milege so are great buys.
I notice that most GTI's on the island are 5dr for some reaosn!

I was on about making sure the ball joint had pulled out of the wishbone fully.
Clair (G6dub) is on about making sure the top of the ball joint is properly located in the bottom of the strut (you shouldn't see any of the shiny metal)......in theory you shouldn't be able to get the bolt in if its wrong as there is a waisted section to allow the bolt in. However, it is possible, as Clair says, to not insert it far enough :o

Deffo go for the hub, if that arm is bent, it will do exactly as the photo shows. If that doesn't fix it then I think you're looking at a replacement subframe :(
