More than likely but some manufacturers cars are beginning to take on some weird looks even now that I wonder what VW may do in the future, surely they can't just keep tweeking an older model and calling it a new one, soon we will wise up and say no more.  Which may mean they develop something so futuristic that it wont even look like a good old VW.

I think we'll be pretty okay as VW always play very conservative with the Golf. VAG have SEAT to try out their whackier designs, take a look at the Leon which has been around a few years now then have a glance at the next generation Astra - I think VAG were a bit ahead of the game there! The mk7 will probably be a lot more blob like but it'll still have some familiarity, it's VWs bread and butter after all.

Sometimes we have the same problem in the bike industry, a bike is so good and such a great seller that they try and improve it without alienating the core customers and it ends up being similar but better.

I think they call it evolution not revolution.

ha ha ha yeah thats sums up pretty well with what has happened with the mk6... I like it, evolution...

Revolution would best describe the Golf GTI W12-650... ho ho ho

If you have the money get the MK6. Make sure you have good read through the T&C when opting for the PCP (I was on a PCP on the MK5 but bought myself out of it).

is there anything in particular I should be looking out for?

Now begins the agonising wait!

Congratulations and welcome to the Waiting Club.

In my experience, there are three stages:

1. for the first 2-3 weeks I am really excited and spend my time reading every car magazine I can find, irrespective of whether they review the car I have actually ordered. I also buy unnecessary accessories and gadgets from eBay and/or my local dealer (mats, keyrings, etc.), so I can sniff them and pretend I'm sitting in the new car.

2. after a month or so, I get used to being frustrated by the wait and almost lose interest in the car (I am currently going through this stage!)

3. then the dealer calls out of the blue to tell me the car has arrived and will be ready for delivery within 48 hours. This is the worst bit, because the car is only a couple of miles away, but you can't get in it and start tweaking! :D
