Final sanity check

I'm just wondering, if I phoned my dealer to ask him if he has any more firm news on the projected delivery date of the car I ordered six days ago, would he think I was out of my mind?

i was told by my dealer that until the order has been in place for 16 weeks there is nothing that he can do in terms of chasing it with VW.  or so he says!!

In my experience, there are three stages:

1. for the first 2-3 weeks I am really excited and spend my time reading every car magazine I can find, irrespective of whether they review the car I have actually ordered. I also buy unnecessary accessories and gadgets from eBay and/or my local dealer (mats, keyrings, etc.), so I can sniff them and pretend I'm sitting in the new car.

2. after a month or so, I get used to being frustrated by the wait and almost lose interest in the car (I am currently going through this stage!)

3. then the dealer calls out of the blue to tell me the car has arrived and will be ready for delivery within 48 hours. This is the worst bit, because the car is only a couple of miles away, but you can't get in it and start tweaking!

I think I have been in stage 1 for the past couple of weeks already... I am reading and re-reading reviews on a daily basis (even succumbed to reading What Car today!).  I don't think I'll do the Joey thing and buy all VW accessories under the sun though... don't want to look like a Beastie Boy!
