Having owned several GTi's over the years I bought a MkV GT TDi 140bhp 4 Motion from new 4 years ago. Paid £18k for it.
It has been a very 'good' car and very reliable but not all exciting to drive in the same way as a petrol GTi.
Yes I can get 55mpg but that gets dull and boring. Traction in the wet and snow is nothing short of amazing. Full bore standing starts, drop the clutch and away you go with no tyre squeal or burning rubber.
Yes, it has mid range overtaking pull but it does not make my hairs stand up on the back of my neck as my old GTi's used to do.
So, that car is for sale for around £10k ( pretty damn good residuals ) while I wait for my new GTi to arrive in about 3 weeks.
Cannot wait to get back into a fun car again, that makes me feel special so that I can start enjoying my driving again.
