Much difference in tuning abilities/reliability in the engines? There isnt too much difference in the insurance prices for me, so i'm open to either one now!

You're going to get 100% of the replies all saying either:
a) 1.8T
b) neither, get a TDI
You can't really tune the V5 at all, the 1.8T is definitely the better choice.

1.8T or 130/150bhp TDI.... Wouldn't touch the V5 with a barge pole!!!

never driven a v5 to comment, you need to test drive both to see what you like.

If you do go for the V5, make sure it's the 170 ps version as opposed to the 150.

1.8t it is then, was thinking about a tdi, but theres just somethin that puts me off a diesel, tho If I was traveling longer distances, I'd definately get one.
