new alloys should this happen
« on: 28 June 2009, 16:06 »
hi I own a 95 mk3 gti 8v.I got a new set of alloy wheels with tyres the size 16inch 205 50.nangkang. good make.but since I have put the alloys on I hav noticed a big decrease in the power of the car both low down and at high end.before the new alloys the take of speed was good ,but now it feels less responsive than before.the alloys before were standard gti 15inch. I thought if I put 17 or 18 inch wheels it would have made a differance ,but not 16. has any1 noticed this before???
aj

Speedo would be out if not calculated correctly. Should not affect performance unless you have bought tyres made from jelly babies.

"Nankang" translates as "ditch finder"

seriously mate Nankang's are well crap in slight damp and slip in corners like a MoFo , Avoid Wan Li as well as they are a bit Bertie Basset too.

Don't you need 45 profile tyres on 16's to keep the speedo right  :undecided:
'95 Mystic blue Mk3 2.0l 8v - gone
'93 2.0l 16v Corrado - gone (and missed)
'02 A4 Quattro sport - gone
'91 Black 2.1 16v Corrado -gone
'91 Tornado red Mk2

you have changed the size of wheels/tyres to what was originally on the car.it is obvious that there will be a differnce in how the car behaves.big alloys may look good but 99% of the time performance is sacrificed.many true dubbers will tell you that
