Im hoping you guys can give me some help or a push in the right direction .
The car has been of the road now for 2 months after failing its mot , in this time i have had to replace the cat and lamba sensor , plugs and leads and fit a new brake line and bleed the brakes up .
So on tues i fit a new tyre which i thought was my last job before the new mot , once i had done this i got in and went to start it up(been doing this atleast once a week) and get it up to running temp and gat the rust of the discs with a spin around the block . The fuel pump primed and then a small amount of smoke came from behind the steering wheel . The car then tried to start and then the clocks all reset at the same time putting the clock to 00.00 and making the alarm sound . After i reset the alarm the same happens if i try to start the engine . The first thing i tried was jump leads just incase the battery had gone flat (didn't work) I then checked the fuses and they were all fine . So after hours looking through this site i think it may be relay no167.
Basically does this sound like it could be the cause of the problem , i am fine when it comes to swinging a spanner but am sh1t on the electrical side of things. After cleaning the contacts up behind the steering wheel this little fella is clicking like mad , would this be a sign of it being knackered or trying to work overtime due to something else down the line being the problem .
Sorry if this is long-winded but thought more info the better. I look forward to any feedback.
Andi .
