Pollen Filter/ECU Cover
« on: 20 August 2004, 11:56 »
Seen similar posts about this - but my query is a bit different.

I broke my cover when getting out the ECU (before i joined here) and althought i havent had the damp in car like others, the panel now doesnt fit properly, so i'm gonna get a new one.

I am worried that i may break the new one during fitting and wonder if anyone has done this yet?

The tricky bit is around the bonnet hinge and i am wondering if it would be wise to take off the other half first?

Any advice welcome

I found refitting the cover a bit of a challenge when i replaced my pollen filter.

It is fiddly round the hinge, i just kept wiggling it about till i found the right angle.

I would suggest having a few practices with the broken one to see exactly how it fits, then you should be able to slide the new one in no problems.

Yea fiddly as f**k!

I broke it the first time i took it out to have the ECU checked. Had it out about 5 times since. to put ECU back in, then to check pollen filter, then coz i wasnt gettin much air flow thru the fan/vents, then to change the pollen filter coz it had got wet, then again to try and get a better fit!

And it aint got any easier each time.

Local dealer aint got one so i gotta to Oxford for one. bummer!

Ask vw to fit it!

I'm sure if ask nicely they will fit it in the car park for you.

Might be an idea to send a woman in with it.

Did get a nice exploded view of all the vents and dash components of em tho.

If anyone wants one i can scan it sometime over the weekend and email it.
