Rocker cover gasket change
«
on:

I have bought a new gasket as mine is leaking a bit. Probably due to age.
Im going to change it tomo. Is there anything i should know before i do this and encounter problems.
I planned to just:
Take of breather hoses
Un do bolts
Un do throttle body (as i think it connects to the same place, or would get in the way)
Pull of rocker cover
replace gaskset
Re attach?
Is there anything other special i have to do, that i have missed?
Cheers
Mike

good luck mate, I struggled big time getting the nuts out from the throttle body area.
while it was off I replaced all studs and nuts, only couple of quid from dealer, looks nicer.

Awkward or not have the right tools for the job? Or too tight?
Im not fussed on looks, my engine bay is covered in oil and dirt, but never missed a beat in 3 years. Plus its only an 8v!

It can be a struggle with the nuts along the back but easy enough to do.

No, I was just pointing out it's called a cam cover not a rocker cover. Unless omeone has snuck an engine with a side cam in your car in which case I'll retract my comment

I think it's just one of those things that's hung around from days gone by, like wing mirrors.
