good on ya for affording a 22k car at 19, but it makes me wonder.......what you bothered about paying 5k on insurance for? shelling out 22k at 19yo on a brand new car?

you must have money to burn mate, personally i wouldnt do it i would maybe buy a mk4 or something till you get yourself another few years driving under your belt.

best price you have had is 3400 quid, take it mate and good luck.

oh btw will you pm me when your breaking whats left of the car i would like the seats please.

Is it just me or is the mk6 section full of cocks? Lets wave our dicks everyone. All together now :undecided:

Just checked the MK5 section and we werent like this when the mk5 came out. Get over it guys.

Das Auto - Im impressed that you can afford this vehicle on your own. Im in a similar boat.

I want to buy (Cash - If you have to pay off a car you cant afford it IMO) a Audi 2.8 Litre A4 Avant. Or a 1.8T (2000 to 2003 models). The insurance companies refuse to give me a quote because Im 18. Those that do claim that a 1.8T is a "performance" car and the 2.8 is a "sports" car and this results in myself getting billed heavily. Nevermind its parked in a locked garage. With electrical fences and close circuit cameras watching it??

The best suggestion I can make is to get yourself onto your parents (or company) insurance. I cant do this as we have the Porsche, GTI, 6 superbikes and all 10 of our work vehicles on the same insurance. Apparently the insurance we have cannot take another vehicle so unless one of our vehicles gets written off Im screwed.

What about things like GAP insurance etc? How are they different to other types of insurance?

Good luck mate! And ignore the guys here who WILL have issues with you owning a mk6 GTI. I have friends who are 18 that drive BMW M3's, Audi RS4's and R32's. And they have paid for them themselves.

      this from the guy whose folks had a 5

and the second bold is ILLEGAL in the uk and called FRONTING  great advice to be giving  :lipsrsealed:

I was 18 once. I used to be a ganster surrounded by b!tches and dat. Had the dollars to get me brand new Porsche innit, then I got put away for putting it on me parents insurance innit!

MK6's are twice as sh!t as MK3's

But you see the difference is... Im buying a car that I can afford. And unless I can get cheaper insurance (My insurance will be higher than my dads Porsches if I buy the Audi) then I cannot afford the car.

We can all dream of owning a MK6 or a MK2 or whatever. But you sorta have to be realistic.

In an ideal situation my dad wants it on his insurance because he can claim it back on tax every month hence why he has offered to have me on his policy. Means jack to me. Just means I get a lower price.

and from thw outside non 5 owner it looked the same as in here, blinkered / rose tinted glasses me thinks  :lipsrsealed:

But Chuff.... You forget... I dont own the MK5 GTI. The mother does and I have no allegiance to the car. I consider myself lucky because it is natural to be protective over something like a car which you paid a lot of money for. I dont have this issue and this means I can pick up on things like this. Do you think I would have stayed in the MK5 section if the attitude was like this? Not a chance. I appreciate all the generations of Golf.

Not exactly.... I work in the oil industry and consulting industry... The financial world is only going pop to those who either live beyond their means (Possibly a case for Das Auto) or those who unfortunately unable to keep a business running.

The rest of us are still doing perfectly fine. Even here in third world countries.
