Squashed Sills/Jacking Points!

It might also be worth just getting them welded up and not using them, then jacking from the subframe, or the jacking points under the car.

even if you have to roll it onto wood, that is what i will do from now on.

And i never meant that just cus its an advisory it is dangerous, but it would be recommended to get it sorted like asap. I persoally would get it booked in when i pay for the mot on the way out! lol.

Are you seriously going to replace the sills?? most people get them straightened and strenghtend with the rust cut out and plated if needed (its quite a major job getting the full sill done)

Ady mate if you saw them you would agree that they do need replacing! No rust at all but if I leave them there will be!
And I dont believe in doing things by halves, if a jobs worth doing then do it well is my moto.

Whats more chavy.....your body kit.... Or using wheel adapters to fit different wheels to your car, SAFELY, that would look sick.

Just to prove how little brains you have here's what I was going to tell you!

These adapters will have to be approx 15 - 20mm thick. Now that means you are going to be increasing the track by 40mm in total. The extra 20mm each side will require arch work!
Not forgetting the extra strain it putting on your wheel bearings and the suspension in general.

FWIW on Advisories you should get them done in reasonable time but sometimes they're just stuid stuff you can ignore. My old camper had an advisory for a crack in the windscreen for something like 8 years on the trot. Get an advisory on brakes or suspension etc then yeah get it sorted. Rot is another grey area. Depends where it is as to whether to panic and get it done or leave it till you have the time cash.

No panic at all Nick. Car is sound for now. Its the jacking points that have just been crushed, the sills themselves are fine!     Was just wondering if I should do them myself! 

Never really liked the side skirts and they are gonna get ripped to pieces in the taking off so just thinking of what else I could do? Might look at other car sills and see if I can graft them on!
Was looking at the skirts on the 405 Mi16 and thinking Hmmm they would fit!

Never asked for advice on if i would need arch work, so stop trying to dig yourself out of a hole.

Just asked if the adapters were available in that fitment.

I did/do mine leaving the sill covers on, screws out and wedge out the way.
When i bought it VW had just fleeced the previous owner for new brake pipes suspension bearings  tyres etc etc to a cost of £1800!!!
and not even noticed/advised on the split crushed and rusty front jacking points.
The owner paid for all this then traded it in for a new one 8 weeks later!?!?!
Still its amazing how many garages and tyre fitters jack cars up on the sill edge makes me cringe

I have thick bits of cut up tractor tyre for jacking, not had a scratch
i did learn the hard way, badly bent the sill on my gf's old clio, oh well at least i haven't done it to a 'proper' car lol

Best thing you could do to a Renault is help it on the way to an MOT failure
