Squashed Sills/Jacking Points!

i had this problem on my old mk3 which my brother in law now has!, think it was mostly my fault as i jacked the car, did whatever work i did then reversed while still been jacked up yup i was thinking the same 'what a noob' haha anyway punctured a hole so needed welding up and now its stronger than ever

Wayne mate I would if I could! The jack only just goes under the sills!

i'm dreading the mot in nov...
really think mine is gonna fail on the sills, from what i have dared to look at and from the state of the bottom of the wing i just replaced i dont think there will be much
how much are ya looking at for having them done??

If its just the "flange" (the half inch metal to metal bit) that hangs down, that been say squashed flat, usually backwards in towards the middle of car then it should be fine.
If like mine the jacking point area is also squashed in little then you will get an advisory!


Just a note here - I had 2 MOT's done at seperate places! The first one that failed it on emissions didnt even mention the sills! Mainly because it was their lift that did most of the damage!

The bottom of the wing is no big deal, if you catch it, or replace the wing.

The jacking points are more sinister though... Have you looked under your side skirts? Or had a propper nose about under neath? Chances are you are fine. Mine wing let go at the bottom, so i replace it. But all of the rest of the sill, and under side skirts was fine

Commen to go on the wing, as the water/dirt etc.

but im gonna have to face it, will look on wed -
the rear wheel arches which im rolling atm arent brill...
the n/s jacking point aint brill but it may just be me being soft!
my mechanic has never said anything and he is normally sh!t hot at giving me things to sort well in advance!!

I used to have to drive mine onto planks of wood 1st.

Where and how would you jack the rear up from? Beam?

Yea the beam when you can get to it!

I use my small trolley jack first then get the big 2 tonner under the beam.
