Still building mk1's

How mad is it that they still build mk1 golfs in south africa!

I didnt know this but they released a 'r' type model in 2007 and judging by the three pics it looks incredible.

Looks like it costs just under £10k, i would totally trade in my mk2 for 'scrap' for one of these.

Seen some other pics and engine looks very similar to a mk2 pb.

Especially loving the updated gearknob design.

My friend who moved out there last year with his SA Girl Friend has a 1996 Citi Golf in a umm very strange green... it's slow as fook being a 1.3 iirc... a far cry from his Celica GT, MK2 Rocco and VR6

Absolutely ginormous steering wheel, would do well to replace it with an original.

The interior is completely new either from a Polo or Fabia.

They don't made the GTi anymore over there, it's called the Citi Golf. They made 100 of the .:R's model iirc, which were quick, think 0-60 of 8 seconds or there abouts.
