Pull the springs and struts out and sit it on the floor then you won't have to buy 'coil overs'. You won't be going any where fast mind.

Mine is a bit too low and I have to be careful, I've even plotted a new route through my town to miss all the speed bumps, except those in my road I have no choice but to go over... VERY slowly.

Not a clue how low it is, but it is LOW. Having to slow right down for speed bumps and creeping over them hoping you don't hear the horrid scraping can get annoying as my route into work has loads of speed bumps. Not to mention holding traffic up.

It may look 'cool', but feck me it's hard to live with.

I measured mine to be 100mm lower than a standard non-gti on some second-hand unknown-brand coilies.  The splitter scrapes everywhere, but I don't care about that.  I'm worried about the sump, but no knocks so far.  The driveshafts aren't hitting the frame yet either.

I did however have to fold up the inner arch-lips, even tho I'm only on 185/60/14s, offset of something like 30.

I've gradually descended to this ride-height, and it's only about now (at -100mm) that I'm having to change my driving style to accommodate for sh!tty bits of road - any higher, and it's only really speed-bumps that you have to slow down for.

General opinion is that -40mm for max handling benifits from stock golf height. Ie how the 16v left the factory  Reason being is the driveshaft is paralelle to ground.

I enjoyed my golf when it was -90mm ish on suspension kit and that was lower than knocking off your cousin... But managed to schnapp a driveshaft, probs as result of it being at an odd angle due to excessive lowness and trying a crazy taxi move.

16in wheels are generally the biggest people consider ok without work but it all depends on et, width and suspension height will dictate whether further arch work etc will be required. However I've seen mk2's with 17s, look a tad "overwheeled", but that's just my opinion.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

Its nothing to do with the driveshaft, all to do with the overall geometry of the suspension but the figure isnt far wrong lol.
