Engine mounts to use when fitting 1.8t into mk3

thought i could just use the brackets off my 1.4 but i took the rear engine mount off the 1400 and it doesnt line up to the holes on the 1.8t - not sure if the 2.0 8v/16v or vr rear mount would fit the 1.8t?

wondered if anyone could shed some light on it

I'm sure the 8v/16v/and vr6 are all the same LL. The VR6 has a different front mount.

use mounting brackets from 1.8 or 2ltr 8 or 16v

Hang on... I thought they were all the same? I know the TDI/16v and VR6 mounts are bigger and stronger but the holes in the right place still...?

this is what i thought, its not vw to make them different... but hey, on the 1.4 bracket, the holes are closer together... maybe they are the same as the polo, cause isnt the 1.4 polo engine the same block?

the actual mounts and holes on car are same in terms of fitment, but the 1.4, 1.6 and 2.8 blocks are a completly different shape to the 1.8-2.0 hence why engine brackets differ.

One other thing to watch out for here is that the rear engine brackets differ for cars fitted with the 02a cable change box from those fitted with the 020 box.  The bracket for cars with the 02a is slightly longer than for those with the 020.  Many don't realise this however it can be vital when converting to a 1.8t to get enough clearance between the cambelt cover and the brake master cylinder.
