Induction Kit Options
« on: 09 June 2009, 14:46 »
Hi Guys and Girls,

Just a random question i thought of:

You can get many types of induction kit made from different materials - whats so good about the carbon ones that are made that are so highly priced over steel ones for example???

is there some kind of gain other than weight?

Unless you're seriously going to do some sort of competition work, and have sponsors with deep pockets, carbon is just B/S.
Don't waste your money my friend. Carbon is the new, well not so new, 'thing'........carbon this, and carbon that..........everyone has carbon doo-dahs.

                                        Forget it.

It won't make you go any faster, it won't even make you FEEL like you're going faster. It will only make someone you don't know a little richer !

lots an lots of "induction" kits are badly designed most dont offer much if any gain in power

most are badly positioned on the hot side or out of direct airflow

if your looking for a better filtration system a panel filter from a reputable manufacturer is best bet , an extra bit ornoise drill the airbox

most competition cars wont even have induction kits , just highly developed filters inside researched boxes ( dependant on regs ofcourse) an ive no idea were this facination with "induction kits" has come from

It makes it louder?? I think that's the big fascination. And that most people think it makes their car into a road legal track car. Tbh I can't lie, I do miss the noise...gonna drill my airbox soon to get a bit of the "induction blare" back

Carbon is a much better heat shield keeping the air cold inside the intake rather than the steel which will get warm and radiate heat to the air. I doubt it will make much difference, I think my carbon CAI looks nicer lol
