ok ok , but with the EFI in the 8v work with  16v lump (not 2.0 but a 1.8 16v from a mk2), donT want to be faffing about fitting old injection

Do try and concentrate when you're reading our responses - we're suggesting using Digifant3 from the Golf3 16V - far better and more efficient than either the Digifant2 on the 8V Golf2, or the donkey-style K-Jet injection on the Golf2 16V.

Insert your Golf3 engine, gearbox, loom and ECU into your Golf2 and away you go - no need for a catalytic converter, bang on a tubular manifold and you'll be knocking on the door of 170bhp from the stock motor in next to no time.

And, unlike the second generation MR-2 (featured pirouetting on the cover of CAR Magazine when launched), it'll handle out of the box.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

what do you need to do to the wiring for this conversion on a 1989 GTi 8v ???

i'm also interested in this conversion as it's cheaper than the VR6 conversion i started and the budget was blown within a month !!!

but with the 90 spec loom you need the clocks (i now have digifiz) and the fuse box and switches

looks like a chew on , but if i could make my own loom with the GTi loom and the ABF loom i think it is less work and quicker

i used the 90 spec loom just cause i knew it would run saves trying to bypass the chipped key its all pretty straight forward swapping looms you would need the clocks from a mk3 16v they fit quite nice in the mk2 dash
