still no radio need help fast

i have just received a plug in booster as recommended on this site. it is for my 96 16v as it has a jvc unit and no radio signal . i plugged the booster in the back of the headunit but not connected the power aerial lead as my car dont have one the signal is sh!t it cost me 6 quid any ideas if its fitted right as the forum on here says they work great :smiley:

you need to connect the thin cable usually blue or white on the aerial adapter to the amp remote wire on the back of the h/u
this is usually a blue or a blue/white
it will not work without power

It will do squat if you don't plug the power in.

It doesn't actually boost the signal - its whole purpose is to supply power to a signal booster than VW fit at the base of the aerial.

you don't need a power aerial wire, you just need to connect live to it - preferably the one that is live only when the ignition is on, or it will probably slowly drain your battery.  I believe the blue one is the one you want - try connecting the power for the amp thingy to the blue one...

Oh, and if you definitely don't have a blue wire (which would be odd), then you can use either Red or Yellow probably - one should be permanently live (+12V, I think yellow), the other (I think red) will only be live when the ignition is on.

so how do i connect the two wires together and will i need to disconnect battery also is the wire i connect it too the one that goes in the headunit or the one that is part of the cars loom i have noticed a blue/white wire behind the headunit in the loom which is cut in half any ideas whats it for any pics of how to connect this booster thing would be great as i am no ice expert cheers :smiley:

the one on the back of the h/u just use a couple of male and female bullet connectors

ive tried connecting the booster to the blue/white wire on back of head unit all that happens is it gets hot does it matter that the amp in the base of the aerial is not working water got in it dont know if im doing anything wrong i plugged booster in headunit and spliced the wire uinto the blu/white wire that comes straight out of headunit peeed off now also i noticed a blue/grey wire in the cars loom cut in half what is this for cheers
