Another New Mk2 Owner saying hi.
« on: 02 June 2009, 14:54 »
Well, after years of "thinking" about it, I managed to persuade the good lady to let me indulge in my teenage dream (it was so many years ago...):-

Far from standard, lowered on coil overs, 1.9 8V with big valve head and 286CAM's, he goes well enough for me, a real credit to his previous owner.

I have plans for him, but for now, Hi, this is me, and I will try and read the technical sections thoroughly before asking questions that you have answered a thousand times already (but I am sure I will ask them anyway, so be nice!).

Looking forward to being a part of the community,

White 1.9 8v's with a 286 cam rule (but I might be biased!). Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

A little more info on the car, engine is 1300miles old, just run in (so will be setting up again soon, any recomendations for a tuning house in and around gloucester who know their GTi's?).

Overbore to 1.9, 83.5 forge pistons, new rings and sweepers, rebuilt bottom end, lightened and balanced of course. Hot tuning coilovers in last 2mths, full respray (and even I have to say it is a fine job, and I am fussy in the extreme on paint), 15" mims and a mint interior with not a rip or wear mark to be seen. Need to sort out drivers electric window (cable snapped), and some other odds and sods, but over all I am chuffed to bits. I am still finding excuses to go out of a blast.

Need to get some ICE in there soon though, head unit is OK, but door speakers removed and rear shelf cobbled together. Ok for Radio 4, but that aint how I am rollin!

Not sure yet John. We are expecting North of 125, but until I get the chance to get it on the rollers and tuned then it is a waiting game. Apparently it has had a remap as well, so with luck 135 would be nice. But it is the torque curve I will be most interested in. 8V for show, and another one in the wings (just waiting on the deal to come through) 16V for go. If things go according to plan I am swapping one of my other Saab's for a nice 16V, that will be getting the "track" focus treatment. Looking forward to that one as well!
