Help needed - my mk3 keeps stalling.
« on: 21 May 2009, 19:26 »
Hello,

I have a P reg 2.0L Golf GTI (Mk3), and although it drives perfectly, when I come to stop at a junction or roundabout, the revs drop way down, and sometimes it stalls. No its not my driving ;)

From reading other posts i think the throttle body was dirty so I went to clean it and removed the "crankcase breather pipes" at least i think thats what they are, they were full of thick black gunge and the back of the hose had split.

See pics below:

So my question is:
Was it the hole or the gunge or both that is causing the problem?
Where did the gunge come from and what is it?
I'm guessing I still need to clean the throttle body.
How do i go about changing the split pipes?
Please help, i can't face another stallathon!
Thanx Kat

Yes you need to clear the throttle body out, the breather pipes are available from Vw new and are not that expensive.

Welcome to the site by the way.

id say idle stabaliser valve if you have on as that usualy runs fine till you come to a stop if you rev while stoped it stops the cut out but you look like a nob and everyone trys racing you lol happend to me scrappy is a good place to get one or new but its pricy
