Broken trim clips - solution?
« on: 18 May 2009, 22:03 »
Hi all,

OK so when removing my tasty walnut trim to spray it the clips on the black bit of the dash behind simply disintegrated when i CAREFULLY pried the trim off! I have put blobs of blu-tac in the holes where the clippy bits should be but the passenger side long strip keeps falling off whilst driving - anyone any ideas on a better solution for holding the bugger(s) in?

Cheers,

Matt.

your only real options are glue, i think trim tape will be too thick or buy a new cage (the bit you've broken (see pic)).

personally i'd glue them, with a very thin layer as not to get any excess round the side, as other than removing them to spray paint or swap for R32 / ani peices there is no need to ever remove them again.

Mine did this when i changed to the anni dash and i used a thin bead of black silicon to bond the new ones on. Grabbed tight but can be pulled back off with a little force if needed

Worked for me as its not a permanent fix but will last till you dont want it too

Cheers for the replies guys! Yeah basically it never needs to come again now i've sprayed it as i'm not planning on splashing out over £100 on trim lol! May go for the black silicone option me thinks...

Cheers,

Matt.
