The mk5 ED30 with DSG has gone down the 1/4 in under 6 secs as standard so dont believe VW's stats

so you're saying that a MK5 ED30 DSG has done the QUARTER MILE in under 6 seconds?

Didnt know you had driven one?

That is top fuel dragster run times on a good day. I think you have been mis-informed or very mistaken.

Top fuel dragsters acheive 100mph in less than a second. An acceleration that is not comprehendable. There is NO WAY that any street car can come anywhere close to achieving that.

oh come on, does it really matter who's faster? If so go down to the pod and have a race. I like my mk5 because it is comfortable and has many creature comforts that the Mk2 simply doesn't have. The Mk2 on the other hand does have character and charm which newer cars do not. Swings and roundabouts, methinks.

On a side not, I did see in Next a Golf GTI Haynes T-shirt with a Mk2 on it, I think. I was distracted by the Mr T and Popeye t-shirts on the next rack.

indeed they are very different cars

ideally you want a nice comfy car like a mk5 for everyday use and a light nimble car like a mk1/2 for fun, you cant have both unless your loaded and can buy a r8 lol

My R32 does both just fine! Quiet and comfy on the motorway and great fun on the twisty stuff where it has loads of grip and huge cornering ability with 4wd

Im sure the mk2 is more fun, but i want to get from A-B quickly while having fun, not just having fun
