the in gear times are what matters...and thats the gear ratios...and a lot of mk2's are modded in some small way anyway...not seen many standard near me.

I'd still have another mk2 tbh...its the creature comforts and reliability that got me to finally swap...plus money woes at the time

The mk5 ED30 with DSG has gone down the 1/4 in under 6 secs as standard so dont believe VW's stats

Standard cars?! none of the R32's or ED30's were doing any where near that time at the pod.
The Jet car did it in about 6 seconds...
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.
