If it continues to run hot, you'll end up with a head gasket failure.
exactly and if it warps the alloy head that will need skimming also as the slightest signs of overheating can warp the alloy head enough for head gasket failure !! not advisable and more expense

If your skint take the bus as you will be more skint if you have to pay for head work, not cheap

I woud,nt risk driving it that far. Only drive it a small distance to the garage once you have the money to fix it. Not worth making a more expensive fix.

Your mad driving that and risking doing even more damage which will cost you s#it loads more to fix. Another reason why I wouldnt get a service dont by Kwik fit or similar if you went to a specialst they would have advised you about the water pump etc.

right just got to uni today... and the cars been fine the tempreture is droping a slight very very slight then going back up to 90 it drop to like 87 .. but it has not moved above 90 at all! :undecided:

im thnking it may actually be the coolant sensor.. as my mates told me if it was the water pump my tempreture would be off the charts and ill notice in change of the drive which i dont!

going to drop it to garage tomorow he said he will do a full diagnostics to find the prob

hopefully it wont be the waterpump..

just took it to three garages.. one was kwik fit .. they said it most likley is the thermostat sticking as my car aint overheating or going over 90 (the middle mark) but just slightly dropping to 85 and rising back to 90 can mean it is sticking and needs to be changed £35 all in

other two garages junped to the water pump and said £150 before i could even explain it fully .. so im a bit iffy with them 2 as there both back of the alley garages.. but good ones at that well known around my area for there work...

now one of the guys told me it can be one of the fins on your waterpump is gone which is causing the tempreture to rise BUT it aint rising i told him its dropping! ... and so he told me check if my heaters and air con is working fine and it all was as normal .. so he said hell ramp it up and have a look tomoz...

so whats your verdict guys sticking thermostat or get the car ramped up and most likley have the pump changed??

Has anyone suggested you get it plugged into VAGCOM to see if the car its spitting out ant fault codes? Might point you in the right direction as to where the point is.
