There's lots more ways of mixing up the options and it becomes very good fun and you can't bugger your clutch (unless you are Hurdy!).

Oi!!!

I must admit that this DSG remap has fundamentally altered the car. To say it is a revellation is an understatement. A quick blast over the Snake and back reveal that the box is tighter now than a camel's arse in a sandstorm, smoother than silk over a womans pert parts and madder than Mad jack McMad from Madstreet Madchester.

Now, I was very much with you about a camel's arse in a sandstorm and also smoother than silk over a woman's pert parts, but I lost you over the Mad Jack etc.

When in D mode, the box wanted to change up into 6th at practically any speed, so when I wanted to accelerate I'd be in completely the wrong gear and I'd have to use kickdown which was usually more acceleration than I actually wanted, so I'd lift off and it would immediately change up!

As already mentioned, when in D mode you can still use the paddles to pop it down a gear or two for overtaking, so that you're not having to use kick-down. This manual override capability is what convinced me that I'd made the right choice choosing DSG.

thanks guys, it doesnt sound too difficult to get used to, going to have a look tomorrow, and will hopefully get a test out of it.
Still use manuals at work, so don't think theres much fear of me forgetting what to do with that 3rd pedal.

I have spent time with DSG in two cars and there is no doubt it is a great bit of kit. But the car still drives itself at times.

I personally prefer the whole throwing a lever thing & being in a place where I want to be and when.

The A4 S-line is up for a change & a 2.0T is a serious think. Will it be an S-Tronic.........I am not so sure & it is not because of the dosh.

It's horses for courses at the end of the day.

Thinking about it....didn't that bird on one of the car shows give it the biggin round a track with a S-Tronic & manual TT. Which one did she prefer.

I like my DSG too. Only because I have a dodgy left knee because I am old and decrepit. Seriously, you can treat it like a manual if you want, but then why not save some cash and get a manual?
