the wife has a golf 1.4s and its only done 32k . well this morning she said that there was a light on in the dash .. its the one with a car skidding along so i sent her to a garage that my mate works in to see what the problem is and he ran a scan on it well fu... k.. its a 57 plate and just out of warranty .. we are the second owners and its going to cost a £1000. to fix, it seems that there is a fault with the traction control and needs replaced .. anyone herd of this before ... i hate golfs ...

What was the error code?

It could be as simple as a bad ABS sensor.
Without traction power is nothing!

Warranty is 3 years only on UK cars.
2 years on imports.

When they say 3 years OR 60k miles - they mean you are covered under warranty up until whichever of the two come first.....

She hasn't just turned it off by accident has she and he is trying to pull a fast one? Turning the ESP off brings on that warning light. Does a 1.4 even have ESP?

Get some proper boots on. The MK5 chassis is brilliant, dont waste it with crap tyres that dont grip in the wet.
