I've got an 97 Mk3 16V with a pain of a problem. The oil temp goes up to about 96 (which I believe is too high) and then the revs will flucuate and ignition is totally lost (I know this because someone connected a VAG diagnostic scanner to it). Once things have cooled down a bit it is fine to drive again. Has anyone had a similar problem? The crank sensor has been recently changed. My local specialist is at a bit of a loss to explain the problem.
To be honest it's doing my swede in a bit especially as I've only had the car for a few weeks and can't use it properly. Any help or suggestions (apart from selling it!!) would be much appreciated. Cheers
