The throttle body was not actually that bad, certainly no serious build up of anything - wiped clean and shiny very easily, once it was off.  Also checked the electrical connections to it (throttle position sensor I presume) and they are fine as well.

Did you just take of the air intake and wipe it out? Or remove it and do the other side of the flange?

i have the same problem as you with my 2.0 8v i have replaced plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm, ht leads, coil, temp sensor, all belts and still it will drive for about 3 minuites and then start misfiring badly not drivable, no one seems to know the awserbut seems to be a comon problem,

sorry to hear you have the same problems mate... If i find the solution it might work for you too  :smiley:

As I said tho, got a new mass flow air sensor on the way so will see if that makes any difference.

finally after days of waiting for it to arrive, Mass Air Flow meter landed on my doorstep, now fitted and no change, still wont run right... ordered new coil..  :sad: fingers crossed...

ok that doesnt help then i have a new air mass sensor on the way was hoping this would be the solution to my problems, i need to get the car sorted so keep me updated as i will you if i find out the problems

sounds like your having fun there dude, have you had it plugged into vag-com! sounds like your chucking money at it! for 50-80quid you should be able to get it plugged in! could save money in the long run!

waht engine is it? is it the AGG?

ye, i am chucking money at it but I need a car. no option where I live. don't have access to a vag com at the moment. just read on another thread that it may be crankshaft sensor.... worth a try.

and yes it is the AGG engine.
