Oh yeah, I went for the 3.2 Audi. Boss used to have one and allowed me to have several drives (even tried to sell me instead of the GTI but was too thirsty for me). With the S-Line kit on it its a really nice looking motor (not as nice as the new shape S3, hummmmm I like them lots)

first off you are unlikely to be a target again (according to statistics!) apparantly
then add in the improved security etc which makes it even harder for them.
GTI/R32/ED30/S3 are all 'hot' theft cars so no diff there tbh, its just a heightened risk many arent even aware of
Just choose what you want and learn to relax again with more precautions in place

i voted for A3 3.2 v6
reasons
- it's a bit more subtle, take the badges off and know one will know if it is a tdi, 1.6, 2.0T or v6
- it's not a R or Gti, to keep the other half happy
- not sure on the 130i. great motor, but the a3 offers similar to the R
- pick up a 3dr (as cheaper i find) and you'll pocket £k's
- left over savings, nice exhuast and some sport springs/ coilovers and treat the other half for something and probably have enough left over for a remap or even go for a DSG ;-)

I voted to keep it - IMHO, it's a no-brainer (if you can appease "she-who-must-be-obeyed" )

The car has minimal damage, you'll get it back in better condition - won't cost you any more money compared to the outlay of time & cash to sort out a new one.

But it's not down to me - it's YOUR decision :)

Whatever you decide - enjoy whichever car you end up in! :)

Obviously the better the car you have the more desirable it is to the preying eyes but it comes down to how difficult you make it to steal.

Regardless of car they will steal it if its an easy picking. Dad had a Avensis taken quite a few years back now and that was only a 1.6...not a highly desirable car but it was easy as the keys were on display.

If you have a drive, get a security light on it and maybe a security post to block the car in and also chain the gate if possible, all these little obstructions will deter them from stealing your car and look for an easier target...get the car you really want. GTI is my choice (im not biased, honest) R32 if you can persuade the other half. Personally wouldnt like to keep a stolen recovered just dislike the idea of it.
sorry but my vaux looks far better than the mk5 gti, thats why i bought it  faster too

still no hearing from the garage about if it has gone VW - it hadn't on tuesday

I must say I'm getting less MPG in the 3cyl 1 litre polo than my old R haha
