GOOD QUALITY HEX KEYS play a massive part in haveing sucsess with them.

if there really crappy it's maual inpact drive as DH says,   most of the time i just scrap out the hole and make sure the hex key is located fully home with a good wack from a hammer the use the air inpacter ( cos it's easy )
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Thanks guys. That last time I had a quick look at it when I tried to turn the pulley bolts the pulley moved, which is why I was asking if you a re supposed to hold the big centre bolt with a rachet or something, to hold the pulley still, while trying to turn the 4 pulley bolts?

Impact driver gets around the pulley wanting to turn, as it's a shock, rather than 'turning pressure' as it were.

19mm bi-hex socket if you need to hold the crank.

I use the pikey impact wrench ...

A 6mm hex socket, 3/8th ratchet and 3lb hammer :)
