id definatly drop wheel size to maybe 15" and ive got a variation of the £189 set on ebay been on for about a year they are perfect to get the look i want which is low, and i dont think the ride is that harsh, id say my £300 spring/strut 40mm set weitecs on my seat ibiza are worse.

my car is off road during winter and i reguarly spray a lubricant over the threads/springs so its all still nice and free, although once im using it properly i dont expect this to last so best find the right stance before they seize.

I've been running the budget coilys for about 2 years now. In short

* They were better than 23 year old f**ked shocks
* They make driving down the motorway at high speeds very uncomfortable
* You can't drive over speed humps at any speed (not because of the height, but the rebound)
* Driving down anything other than a smooth surface is pretty hard
* 2 years on from fitting, they aren't much worse, but its hard to get any worse

My advice, steer clear, I've had them on a lot longer than most folk on here and have a pretty rounded experience of them.

As people have said, get the Weitecs or save £800 and get Koni coilys.

the AP coilovers are from the kw/weitec stable, just a budget brand seem to be around £325.  but for that money, id be using the weitec gtn kit.
http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?product=3876990 there the same price. and go as low as youd ever need
g-werks will probably be cheaper too

thanks for that seems like its just one di*khead, well hears the pics of my golf but it needs a new osf wing, doors and tail gate spraying.i will go for a set of 15" or 16" wheels as and when i can find the right ones(money/style)what i would like to get in the end of it is a car that looks and goes the same if that makes sense(bro has a supra with body kit,big wheels,re trim and boot build but its only a 3lt manual non turbo so has the so and no go)my car is a daily driver but Ive driven lots of sh:t cars so dont mind a hard ride but if it dont take the bumps then there's no point and i dont mind if they seize as once they are set thats how they will stay.well i would post the pics but cant work out how to,so help would be good
drive it like u stole it,brake it then mod it

i had the hottuning ones on my golf last year. For the money they were the best. Ride was abit harsh though, but it handled very well imo. I am going to buy them again although if i had the money id buy something different.
